LMK joins Labor Day Mob

Together with the drivers, workers, urban poor, grassroots communities and different civil society organizations, the Liga ng Makabagong Kabataan joined the Labor Day mobilization in Iligan City.

In his message, Reemar Alonsagay (LMK-Ranao Secretary General) underlined important labor issues the youth are facing such as limited job opportunities, oppressive contractualization scheme, non-implementation of minimum wage and benefits. He urged the government, especially the current administration, to provide jobs to millions of unemployed youth.

After the mobilization, LMK organized a Jam Na! MUSIKATARUNGAN (a mini-concert) in front of Iligan Post Office. Through music, they expressed their solidarity and support to the struggle of the workers around the world. While the band was playing songs, the youth together with the urban poor  painted a huge graffiti depicting workers' struggle.
